Sunday mornings are a time when much of the church family gathers together. We gather around a theme or Bible passage and enjoy songs, a talk or reflection, prayers and liturgy. We also like to be creative, and are known for being informal and friendly. No need to dress up smartly, although you are welcome to do so! After some time altogether, our young people go out in 3 age groups (0-4, primary and secondary age). We also have a children's area which can be used throughout the service.
On the first Sunday of the month we share communion together, which is an incredibly special time, as we share bread and wine, and encounter Jesus there.
Once a month all ages join together for a cafe-church. After tea, coffee, toast and croissants we sit around tables and our worship is based around discussion and activities. We might have a creative prayer activity, watch some film clips or pray and discuss in smaller groups. Again, these services are based around a Bible passage or biblical theme.
Every Sunday service can also be accessed via zoom. Simply follow the link at 10.30am:
From January 2022, we will be going through Luke's gospel as a church. We will take a chapter per week, and read and meditate on it at home, before learning together on a Sunday. We are excited to see what God will show us as we dig into His word together.
Once a month we have a worship time which is different from a traditional church service. We all have unique personalities, and we long for our worship to reflect that. Following Jesus' model, this tends to involve sharing food together, and may involve any of the following: crafts, quiet prayer, noisy prayer, conversation, music, liturgy, cooking and more!
The day, time and structure of this varies, but it is usually based around a biblical theme such as light, waiting on God or healing. Children and adults of all ages should find something to engage
them here. Check the website for regular updates.
For parents and carers with their pre-school children. We meet at 9.15-10.45am each Tuesday in term-time for lots of free play, crafts, songs and stories. All are welcome, from all faiths and none. For more information, contact Claire.
Welcome Inn is as simple as it is important. We simply open church, serve tea, coffee and cakes and enjoy them together. We do not charge, so as not to exclude anyone, but anyone can make a donation if they wish. Welcome Inn attracts a variety of people facing various joys and struggles in life. We tend to share these together and have celebrated anniversaries, birthdays and Christmas on a Tuesday morning. It is a place to find friendship, and a place to belong. For more information, contact Maureen.
Each Tuesday evening at 8pm we pray a lovely prayer called 'compline' over zoom. Compline means 'complete', and is a prayer written for the end of the day. This started during lockdown, but has continued, as we value the peace of this prayer. It has also been a great way to enable those who are still shielding to pray in a group. Cup of cocoa optional!

St. John's Circle Fellowship Group meets on most Wednesday afternoons at 2.30, apart from a Winter break until mid-February, usually resuming with a celebration of Valentine's Day on the Wednesday of that week. Our members range from 60-90 but younger members are very welcome! We usually begin with a time of devotion, followed by a guest speaker who will share various topics or themes with us. Usually of their own choice. We conclude with refreshments and fellowship. All are welcome to join us either regularly or occasionally. For more information, contact Nigel.
The Saturday morning walking group came about as a means of getting together in a 'safe and controlled environment' with a small amount of exercise thrown in! We meet at 10.30am in the walks, at the old gateway at the end of the Broadwalk. After the walk we have tea and coffee together and put the world to rights. Everyone has an open invitation to join us. Please feel free to contact Eleta, if you would like to find out more on 07796 177300.
Young people aged 10 -16 meet together on most Friday nights from 6.30-7.45pm at our Youth Group, Eagles, for fun, games and time together. We always end with saying a blessing on each other. New members are very welcome. Please come with a responsible adult for the first few minutes so that you can fill in an emergency contact form. For more information, contact Claire.
Youth on Sunday
After the first 15 minutes or so of the Sunday morning service, young people aged 10-16 visit a local cafe with Claire, the Church youth worker. Over hot chocolate they discuss issues relevant to their daily lives and spend time thinking about what the Bible has to say to them. New members are very welcome. We do need contact with a responsible adult who can provide emergency contact details. For more information, contact Claire.
